Call for art/music in San Francisco: Themed art for bunny party

Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies.

Ok, I had to get that out there.

I am part of a collective that has been producing a community based culture jam event in San Francisco on Easter Eve.

And yes, we're a theme party with the theme of bunnies. And we're one of those theme parties that takes our theme and shoves it so far down people's throats, they're pooping our theme out for weeks.

It's all about bunnies, easter, spring, and all the sugar coated cultural references that go along with it (this year, St. Patricks day is the same weekend as Easter, so we've added that as or sub-theme).

In keeping with our theme, we are seeking out new and original content.

Audio: Performance and music based artists that explore culture jamming. (And while we do love normal dj dance music like house and trance, it's not what we're going for. We'd much rather have people say "wft????" than "aw, that's some funky beats I can dance too". Although, if you can combine it into "wtf??? This music is so weird, but yet, I can not stop dancing!", then you score an A+)

Visual: We are lacking on floor space this year. Our venue does not have any big open areas, but instead has lots of little nooks and crannies (we're more of a warren/cave like space than a big warehouse space). A big installation that would take up a 20' x 20' space, not gonna work. The type of thing that would work at the end of a hallway, and becomes a hidden discovery that people will remember for years to come, that will work. Interactive, performance, wall hanging art with a bunny theme, we love you!

If you think you might be the type of artist who creates content that would fit our vision, please email me (sfaaron26@yahoo.com) so we can talk further, or send me a message here on tribe.

furry convention in San Jose this weekend (Jan 25 - 27)

Further Confusion (furtherconfusion.org/) is coming! The convention actually spans Thursday through Monday, but the weekends are always best. It takes place at the San Jose Doubletree Hotel, right off the 101 freeway.

If you want to see costumes that will blow you away, get inspired for next year's outing; or if you wonder if your preconceptions were right -- then this is the place for YOU!

My business bunnywarez (bunnywarez.com/) will be vending there in the Furry Marketplace, and we'll have all sorts of great surprises. Some of which I'm certain you will LOVE! :-D My partner M and I will also be DJing the main dance on Friday evening from 9:30 - 11:45 (ish), and we are also part of some panels on Sunday.

It would be great to see y'alls!

Hello. I'm new to Tribe, but not new to the fandom. I'm in search for some furs in the SF area (preferably around San Francisco State Univ.) who are wanting or looking for someone to help pay their rent in exchange for a place to stay. I would LOVE any info that you guys have to offer that could aide me in my search. If you have any questions/interrogations/profiling, please feel free to email me at gingitsune03@yahoo.com or reply here..I just hope I get used to Tribe so that I can actually navigate around this place.

Auditions for Sheep and Ranch Hand, a Sexyqueer love story

We are having auditions for the two main roles of “The Sheep and The Ranch Hand: a Sexyqueer love story”, a short film being produced in San Francisco. Auditions are Tuesday, 11/27, from 7-9pm. Please write to us at lavigne789@yahoo.com to schedule your audition and get more information. Other audition dates upcoming. Please also see website at http://sheeplovestory.webs.com/ for last minute updates.

This is a love story of a woman discovering the joys of imagining that she is a Sheep, having adventures with her adoring Ranch Hand. (She will wear a pretty realistic sheep suit for the majority of the film.) It is also the story of her journey from loneliness to liberation through connecting with her internal truth. The script is funny and sexy, and has received very positive feedback.

I am a female film producer/editor who has had films in festivals around the globe. There is no pay on this one, but you do get: credit, exposure, DVD, good food, good folks, good film for your reel.

The two roles:

1. Chloe, Woman-As-Sheep: physically short-to-medium woman (shorter than Ranch Hand). This is a star role allowing for a lot of very expressive physical acting. Actor should be very comfortable in her body as she will be doing a lot of leaping and bounding. Chloe is new to the joys of sheep-dom, but finds herself a natural. She absolutely loves being a sheep! She is deeply in love with her Ranch Hand, who treats her with chocolate and the best clover around.

2. Handsome Ranch Hand: butch woman or FTM, taller than Sheep. Loves Chloe-Sheep more than anything in the world. Hardworking ranch hand by day, who looks forward to evenings relaxing and romping with Chloe-Sheep, pampering her, and enjoying all her fleecy silky softness.

Professional acting experience not required (but welcome). Friendly, relaxed auditions, so if this sounds fun, come on out and don’t be shy!

There is a sex scene (R-rated, no nudity required) so actors will need to be comfortable with that. I can discuss more at length with anyone who’s interested in auditioning.

This is a 6-7 minute short. There will be two shoot days, either on an upcoming weekend, or if people are available, on two upcoming weekdays. Dates are flexible. 1-2 rehearsals before the shoot. There are still some crew positions available so write us if interested in being behind the camera rather than in front. Thanks for reading!

I want a squirell suit. I was thinking purple and some other color. I even have 6+yards of awesome purple fur already.

One problem: I can't seem to come up with a sewing pattern to make it. My local seamstress and I would probably do all the work except I may have the head done by a fursuiter...if I can find one I can afford.

I really want to go to the con in January so any help or opinions ASAP would be appreciated.

Did I already say I wanted a squirell suit........

You are awed by my squirelly wrath!

Hi all! My name is Alex and I am a photojournalism major at San Francisco State University. My friend Paul and I are looking to do a portrait series of furries in the Bay Area. I shoot with a digital 20D and a Leica m3, and Paul shoots with a Hasseleblad camera, so if you are interested in getting a free portrait taken of you and any of your friends who are furries, please let us know, they are going to be truly high quality pictures. And of course, we will hook you up with free copies of the pictures.

I've registered myself as a contingent in the Pride Parade this year as "Rainbow Salamander" . I will be showcasing some of my costumes with some of my friends as well as my little fur covered electric mutant vehicle thats in the shape of a salamander. I'm emphasizing my furry nature. If anyone is interested in being part of my contingent and being in the Pride parade you are welcome to join me. My boy Spunky and I walked in the Parade last year and it was a lot of fun. The best way to reach me is email at rainbow.salamander@yahoo.com.

I'm also creating a Furry themed Camp at Burning Man with a few of my furry and raver friends; called Camp Fluffer. The Camp will be part of Avalon Village. Check out our tribe. I'm curious to know where other Furs at Burning Man are camping. I'd like to host some kind of furry oriented social event. If anyone is interested in camping with us, you're welcome to join us.

Tons of scritches and lots hugs -- Salamander

So, any interested furs can send inquiries to this adress: studioskunked@gmail.com .

Furtribe at Further Confusion

So ya thought that tribe.net was dead huh. Well, you're still here too.

Further Confusion is just around the corner, and I think it'd be great to continue our tradition of having a get together / party at FC again this year. We have a room on the party floor that we are welcome to do something in. I can bring some gear and equipment to make it happen as well. Myself, I've always been fond of both that we dop a chill space, and also that we have a more mature crowd (read: not xxx, but mature as in not immature kids doing stupid things).

We've always had some of the best people pass through the room parties, so why not keep the tradition alive? Anyone game?

Hi,

I'm a researcher for a talk show in LA and we're doing a show this week discussing the furry culture. I am having a difficult time finding someone to speak with regarding this topic and would greatly appreciate any advice or help. The show I'm working on is NOT going to make fun of any one or put anyone down for their life style. If anyone comes on the show as a guest you will get paid and we will pay for your travel. You can call me at 310-202-2439. Thank you for your help.

Furrie Newbie

Ok,

I'm a total furrie newbie. But I really want to explore the scene and need guidance. Where to begin? How to connect with other furries? Fur suits? How and where?

Believe it or not, I didn't find too much good info on the net.

I'm so excited about getting into this, but I'm so far from the action.

Newbie wonders if there are any Badger s out there?

I'm green and practically furless but I have been wanting to remedy that. Life's always reigning me back but lately i've been putting my tail and ears on right when I come home from work because it's relaxing and makes me feel good.

So the newbie's question goes like this: My dream would be to make a Hare's costume but I'd need a Badger Lord of Salamandastron to serve. Any Badgers in the house? I feel like a pervert when I check out Redwall or Long Patrol sites but I think i'm safe asking here! :) Less White Rabbit and more swashbuckling blood and vinegar fighters, is what I'm interested in, wot.

I've read some past posts about costume making so thanks for having a tribe here. Even old posts are helpful for us poor arts craftsy types.

Have a splendid day everyone and I hope to meet some of you about,

Did y'all enjoy the new "Over the Hedge" movie??

Hey, everyone!

Say, did anyone else get a chance to see that delightful new movie, "Over the Hedge"? Oh, I LOVED it!! While I suppose the squirrel could be called the showstealer, I especially liked the way they debveloped that raccoon character; call me biased, but I always thought that a 'coon would make a great lead! (Of course, in my opinion, that raccoon in Pocahontas was the lead as well!)

They had the raccoon personality down to the last festidiously raided potato chip, and his physical attributes, while certainly cartoonish, were raccoonishly naturalistic and well-animated as well. It was a nice blend of naturalistic and anthropomorphic caricatur if you ask me: like any raccoon would, he plummages through garbage bins and gets himself into (and out of) mishaps with sly ingenuity; yet, as a raccoon of course wouldn't (but would easily be pictured doing), he totes a little bag of the most outrageous household items as a gadget arsenal, and he smooth-talks his fellow critters into working for him! An of course, there is that sad bit about him being a loner -- such is the curse of coons. All signature procyonid!

But moving away from my mischivous little friend, the whole movie was wildly clever -- the puns on the characteristic personalities found in suburbia (I'm sure you'll all find parallels in your own neighborhood!), and especially the blatant depiction of us humans' overconsumptive nature, had me laughing to tears!

By the way, fellow furs, here's a link that you might find interesting if you haven't seen it yet -- just take a peek at the picture featured in the article (and I'm NOT referring to Bruce Willis!):

in.today.reuters.com/news/ne...cle.aspx

But ah, how rude of me -- there I go blabbering again! So, what did YOU all think of the movie?? And if you haven't seen it yet -- DO!!!

Thanks, cheerio, signing off...

‘allo ‘allo,

A bit off topic but, has any one been to, or at least heard of an event called “BunnyJam”? I found their web sit at www.bunnyjam.com. Apparently this year it is being held at a place they are calling BUNNYdock Bay in San Francisco on the evening of April 15th. I’m a bit intrigued by the title and some of the photos, so I’m trying to gather a bit more information, perhaps even some first hand accounts.

Chat with you later…. Jeff

FurtherConfusion and Furtribe update

If you are involved with Furtribe and/or are planning on attending Further Confusion this year... listen up...

As of tonight, the hotel is *full*! It's going to be a packed house this year, with attendance estimated to be reaching the 2000 mark.

M and I did a reconnaissance mission down to the DoubleTree Hotel last week to check up on some leads and think about this year's game-plan. We're still awaiting confirmation that our reservation will place us on the party floor, so a little bit of breath holding will be necessary.

Aaron, M and I have talked briefly about having a meet-up to discuss logistics, plans and volunteer for tasks and responsibilities. This hasn't happened yet, so I'd like to propose one for very soon if at all possible.

I'll try to get a hold of a few people personally whom I am sure will be attending, but if you are at all interested in being part of the furtribe party room, please drop an YIP here in the thread or to me personally so I can begin to help organize.

We're gonna need a lot of stuff again this year to make it happen, and the efforts will certainly be well worth the rewards. Organizers (Aaron, M, me ?), Decorations (Aaron?), Sound (Aaron and M?), sign-age (Scooter?), DJs (Aaron, Pup, Tag, M, me... ?), bartender (you?), flyers, promotion, shopping, fun!

I'd like to try to have a meeting mid December or early January.

As always, input and feedback is welcome. Your help is needed to make this happen this year. It's gonna rock socks' socks!

jovino

p.s. there might be a surprise to be announced soon. But for now, mum's the word.

A good friend of mine, Ferris Plock (http://www.ferrisplock.com/) is having an art opening here in San Francisco tonight and he has asked me to invite all my furry friends to attend and build a hype about his show. So, I am inviting everyone here to come on by and be a part of a crazy evening.

heya'll - I am new to this furry gig, but HAVE to say it is my all time fave fashion statement "Touch me, for I am furry!"

So I am on the penninsula, and looking for crafters or other furry costuming gatherings to get me into the costume of it.

I LOOOVE HeatherLyns furry chaps, oh la la - but may want *ahem* a little more coverage but not a complete suit.

Where do y'all find your patterns? Anyone got any to share?

I am interested in furry patterns of cats of all kinds, a panda, a hawk......all over the map but I have to start somewhere...anyone have tips for me?

cheers!

A new furry tribe

Hi Folks!

I'm the moderator of a tribe called Hot Dripping Seal Love. Seal Play is something my girlfriend and I came up with. One afternoon, she was napping, and fresh from a shower with my hair slicked back, I climbed into bed with her. Upon waking, she found me peacefully watching her sleep and informed me that with my blonde hair and big brown eyes, I reminded her of a baby harp seal. From this, our fetish was born.

I dress in an outfit that resembles a harp seal (all white terry or velour) but is not a furry costume as such, and lie down and pretend to be "all alone on the ice" and then she, the big seal, comes along and does to me "things they don't tell you about in the books about seals".

Anyway ... just thought my little Tribe might be something of interest to some of the folks here. So far it isn't very active, but perhaps some of you might help change that?

We are also into Kitty Play -- she dresses in a velour black or leopard-print track suit (occasionally with ears and a tail, too). I stroke and pet her, while she rubs against me like a kitty and purrs. Other, less "tame" activities generally follow. We have not, however, started a tribe specifically for Kitty-play.

Party Floor at FC

We had some talk before about getting a room at FC on the party floor of the hotel, and having some public events, similar to how we did last year.

Last year it worked out great, we had 6 people in the room (the room had 2 queen beds), which worked out to about $20 a night for each of us.

I'm interested in doing it again this year. I also have some friends interested in staying with us (my bf and two other furs who arn't on tribe). That's 4 so far.

There was also some talk of getting 2 rooms on the party floor, right next to each other, so that we'd have one room to keep as more of a chill space. That is if we have enough people interested in commiting to staying. Another possibility is that we get one room for all 4 nights (Thursday-Sunday), and a second room for the peak nights (Fri-Sat). As some people will only come down for the weekend, or just a few nights. That might work out as well.

What we do with the room(s) is also up to us also. The only criteria that they state in the FC newsletter is that 'at least on one night/dayhaving a public (not invite only) party'. And I have lots of toys i'm willing to bring down (sound system, digital projector, decorations, etc...).

So who's interested? And what nights would you be staying?

I'll be there Thur, Fri, Sat night definetly, maybe Sunday. (Same for my bf and the other 2.)

3. Our hotel is full!

completely. For those who have left booking a room until now, there are
still a couple of options available to you.

There may still be rooms available on the executive levels for some
nights, if you're willing to pay the hotel's standard (non-convention)
price. Please contact the DoubleTree directly to enquire about
availability if interested. When we last checked, these rooms were going
for between $160-$200/night.

There are a number of hotels within half a mile of the DoubleTree, which
we have posted their contact information on our forums at
<http://www.furtherconfusion.org/forums/msg.php?th=396>. There are no
special arrangements that Further Confusion has made with these hotels,
and so you will need to deal with them directly to make a reservation.

The deadlines for fursuit floor and party floor requests has already
passed, and the rooms on these floors are all filled.

Ears on a headband?

OK, so I'm sure this is "Furry 101", but I can't seem to find a set of instructions for making bunny (or otherwise) ears that stand up, on a headband..... all I've made are the hoods-with-ears, and I want a change.

Anyone have a link to instructions, or can post them? Or is there a "furry 101" link somewhere that's NOT for the mascot-style stuff, but just the simple furstuff?

Thanks!

Hey people. Victor here (Otherwise known in the fandom as Tybee). Sort of. I'm mostly on Furnet IRC and Furrymuck. I'm on Tapestries, too, but not very often at all. I've been seeing the SF Bay Furries listed as a connected tribe to my tribe, Furry & Anthro Fans, so I figured I'd join and say hello. Maybe meet some new people and furs. ^_^

I also thought I'd spot a shameless plug here for my tribe. ;) It's at http://furries.tribe.net and it's been up for well over a year. I didn't realize it was that "old" until I was doing some maintenance and found the date created was sometime way back in 2003. Geez, how time flies. o.O;

So...yeah. Here I am. Nothing much to see. Move along now. No pictures, please. I said no pictures! NO! ARRRRGH!
FC Party Room - Update

Update on the space at FC. The reservation is made for the Friday and Saturday night. All things set to go. I've also figured out how to use Paypal to accept donations. I have set it up on my own personal web site (but this is by no means a neonbunny production, it was just a place to put the paypal button...) at

http://neonbunny.com/events.html

If you send a donation through paypal, make sure you also send me a message on tribe, or an email, so I have a way of double checking Paypal!

Ok, so what we want to do is still up in the air. Lots of music, I'm hearing (I wanna dj too!). I'm also going to bring lots of my furry themed art to hang up, and probably a digital projector for some of the times.

Also, Scooter has his hotel room on the same floor, I'm requesting that the two rooms be adjucent so we may be able to utilize both spaces (chill room, dance room?).

I'm really looking forward to FC. Now to see if I can make a whole new suit by then.

“I dress in elf garb for the Naughty Santas' Black Market, just on the off chance other elves might be similarly lured. Under the auspices of Hernan and Brynne Cortez, SomArts has been transformed into less a winter wonderland than a surrealist toy shop located somewhere beyond the looking glass. In the main hall, artists peddle their wares -- hand-painted fairy wings, animated jewelry, hats adorned by antennae and fun fur, plush-toy vaginas, insuperable games, and fantastic apparel -- while self-appointed "toychitects" forage through mounds of decimated playthings, combining their parts into strangely beautiful Frankentoys using just a hot-glue gun and a few shots of peppermint schnapps. While this is an ideal setting for him, Crackhead Elf is nowhere to be seen. I wander into the theater, where Kennedy is fronting the Yuletards, a group of very off-color Christmas carolers, and I am immediately caught on the business end of a candy cane.

"We've lost our elf," says the spritely Santa-girl on the other end of my favorite peppermint confection. "Will you help us?" I glance around at the bleary-eyed Santas in her company and think better of it. It's a well-known fact among holiday miscreants that the Naughty Santas have a long-running feud with the Porn Clown Posse, and I don't want to be stuck in the middle. Sure enough, in a matter of minutes, there is a great disturbance. Lascivious clowns wearing adult undergarments and strap-on dildos descend on the Santas, shouting invectives about subnormal Santa intelligence while wielding whips and bottles of cheap clown booze. The Santas fight back. There's a smackdown in the kiddie pool. Baby bottles and grapes go flying. Greasepaint and fake white beards are everywhere. It's revolting and depressing, and, just when I think I can't take it anymore, something happens. The Santas offer the Porn Clowns a peace offering -- a black velvet clown portrait -- and the age-old rivals agree to a truce, promising from here forward to turn their aggressions to the more constructive task of slaughtering Easter Bunnies. It's a Christmas miracle. It warms the cockles of my heart (in much the way that certain appendages are warmed, whenever a Porn Clown pees in his diaper, just because he can). As peace descends over the Black Market, a troupe of living tulips gathers onstage for the Cloud Factory Design Collective's otherworldly fashion show.

1. Pre-Registration Cut-Off Date
2. Fursuit & Party Rooms are still open
3. Suites are still available
4. Artshow space running out
5. Anubis Awards
6. 2: The Ranting Gryphon and Tim Albee's 'Bits and Giggles'
7. Live Animal Events
8. Masquerade News
9. Con Book Submissions
10. Charity Auction

----------

1. Pre-Registration Cut-Off Date

If you have not registered for Further Confusion yet, the pre-registration
deadline is December 30th, 2004. The online registration system with close
at 11.59pm on this date, and mail-in registrations should be postmarked by
this date also. After this time, pre-registration will no longer be
possible and you will have to get your membership at the con at the price
of $50 for the entire convention.

2. Fursuit & Party Rooms are still open

We had to extend our room block with the hotel as we found some people
have had problems in getting the convention rate. If you are one of these
people, please send an email to hotel@furtherconfusion.org with your full
name, reservation number, and which nights you couldn't get at the con
rate of $89/night and we will talk to the hotel about fixing that.

As usual, double queen rooms are going fast. If you find that you cannot
book a double queen room, try booking for a single king room instead. If
you absolutely and positively must have a double queen room, this could be
your _last chance_ before they all go!

Requests for rooms on the party floor are still open until December 1st.
If you would like a room there, book a room in the normal way and then
send an email to hotel@furtherconfusion.org, providing your name,
reservation number, your request to have a room on the party floor, as
well as a short description of the required public party that you have to
hold in order to qualify for a room on this floor. The party floor is on
the second floor, and all rooms have access to the wide balcony behind the
hotel.

Fursuit floor requests are required by December 18th! We try our best to
keep fursuiters together on the lower floors of the hotel, providing
easier access to the convention space. This floor is filling up quickly,
and once it's filled we will have to stop taking requests. If you are a
fursuiter, do not leave this too late! It will be strictly first-come,
first-server. Again, first book your room in the normal way, then email
hotel@furtherconfusion.org with your name, reservation number, and state
your request or a room on the fursuit floor.

3. Suites are still available

Some of the parlor suites at the hotel have opened up, but if you want
one, you need to act fast. These are approximately twice the size of the
usual rooms, and providing you have a room booked already you can upgrade
your standard room to a parlor suite by emailing
hotel@furtherconfusion.org with your name, reservation number, and
mentioning that you would like to upgrade to a parlor suite. Suites are
located on the 9th and 10th floors and are $225/night. If you want to see
what you're getting for your money, go to
http://www.dtsj.com/accommodations.asp and take a look.

If we do not get reservations for the parlor suites by December 4th, we
will have to return these rooms to the hotel, and they will _not_ be
available after that date. Why are you waiting?

4. Artshow space running out

We are now getting close to running out of space in our art show. If you
have not yet gotten your space, now is the time to act. Send an email to
artshow@furtherconfusion.org and request your space now.

5. Anubis Awards

Heather Bruton and Dark Natasha are teaming up to judge certain pieces
that are appropriate for this year's theme of 'Furries on the Nile' for
special recognition. These are the Anubis Awards, and will be handed out
for 'Best Male', 'Best Female' and 'Best Couple' for Anubis or Egyptian
themed artwork in our art show.

6. 2: The Ranting Gryphon and Tim Albee's 'Bits and Giggles'

2 will be doing an 'all ages' show that will be followed by a showing of
'Kaze: Ghost Warrior', where the animator himself - Tim 'Amadhi' Albee -
will be answering question about his film and showing you behind-the-scenes
process that worked for him on his journey of belief and love that
resulted in this animated short film. See brand new 3D animation tools in
action that can let even first-time animators deliver powerful
performances. Find out how you can learn the skills to tell the stories
that you've always wished to bring to life.

7. Live Animal Events

We have confirmation from Wildlife Companions that they will be attending
Further Confusion. Wildlife Companions is a non-profit organization that
operates a sanctuary and endangered species education outreach program.
They can be found on the web at http://www.wildlifecompanions.org/ and
they will have both animal - and human - representatives at FC2005.

8. Masquerade News

The Masquerade is a furry fashion show for all ages and all abilities.
Participants get 90 seconds to strut their stuff - or walk like an
Egyptian - on our main stage and have their fabulous costume creations
judged by a panel of experts. Awards will be given for Novice, Journeyman,
and Master skill levels, as well as a Judges' Choice.

The Masquerade will be presented on Saturday night from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.
There is a very, very, extremely important and mandatory rehearsal from
10.00am to 1.00pm for ALL participants. To get more information or
reserve your spot in the show, send an email to
masquerade@furtherconfusion.org. Rules for the Masquerade are posted on
our website at http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/masqrules.php

9. Con Book Submissions

Our Convention Book deadline is December 3rd, 2004. Further Confusion is
accepting black & white artwork and photographs, stories, and any other
related con book material. We can accept material in TIFF, EPS and PDF
formats. If you have a JPEG file, please try to send it to us at the
highest resolution possible. Artwork can be either 8.5"x11", 8.5"x5.5", or
4.25"x5.5" in size. Black & white images should be submitted in at least
300DPI or higher. PDF files should be created at the 'High Quality'
setting. Stories may be in either Rich Text (RTF) or DOC format. If you
are submitting a story, please include your name in the story file so we
are able to properly credit you. Quality setting.

Also, please name files that you provide to us something logical, so that
we know who they were submitted by. For example, a piece done by Joe
Public could be named jpublic-temple_of_sobek.tiff.

We do have an upload site for images that are too large to send to us by
email. By 'too large', we mean larger than 5MB in size. Please send
submissions and questions to conbook@furtherconfusion.org. This is also
where to ask about details for the upload site.

Our Convention Book guidelines are posted in full detail on our website,
as well as templates that you can use for Illustrator and Photoshop. This
page is located at:
http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/conbook_guidelines.php

10. Charity Auction

2 will be hosting the Charity Auction for us this year, and we are still
looking for some good items to auction off. If you have any such items,
please let us know by sending an email to info@furtherconfusion.org.
2. Hotel Deadlines for Fursuit, Party Floors and Parlor Suites
3. Con book Submissions
4. Travel Assistance
5. Furry Market Place spaces deadline
6. Masquerade
7. Furry Variety Show - 'Furry Night Live!'
8. Events Announcements
8. Pre-registration deadline is coming up
9. FCTV

----------

1. Artshow panels going fast

If you have not gotten a space in our art show, we suggest that you wait
no longer. We are quickly selling out of available panels.

2. Hotel Deadlines for Fursuit, Party Floors and Parlor Suites

Our room block is also filling up rapidly, so be sure to book your hotel
rooms soon! We actually came very near our limit for the Sunday night of
the convention the other week, which did lead to a few people having
difficulty in booking double queen rooms for the days of the con. If you
were told that the room block was full, we suggest that you try booking
again now since we have extended our room block with the hotel, and more
rooms are available. Still, double queen rooms always run out first, so
book soon if you need one of these!

The con still has a small number of parlor suites available. These are
approximately twice the size of the usual rooms, and you can upgrade your
standard room to one of these by sending email to
hotel@furtherconfusion.org with your confirmation number, name and
request. The cost is $225 per night, and all the suites are on the 9th
and 10th floors. If you want to see what you're getting for your money, go
to http://www.dtsj.com/accommodations.asp and take a look.

Requests for rooms on the party floor are still open until December 1st.
If you would like a room there, you go about this in the same way as
booking a suite. Send your confirmation number, name and that you would
like a room on the party floor to hotel@furtherconfusion.org. You must
hold a public party (ie, not invite only) for at least one night during
the convention. Please send a short description of your party along with
your request. The party floor is on the second floor, and all rooms have
access to the wide balcony behind the hotel.

Fursuit floor requests need to be in by December 18th! We try our best to
keep fursuiters together and on the lower floors of the hotel so that they
can gain access to the convention more easily. As always, this floor fills
up quickly, and once it is filled we will have to stop taking any more
requests. If you are a fursuiter and want to be on this floor, don't leave
this until the last minute! It's strictly first-come, first-served. As
with all hotel requests, send your request along with your name and
confirmation number to hotel@furtherconfusion.org.

3. Con book Submissions

The deadline for the Further Confusion Convention book is December 3rd,
and we are accepting black & white artwork and photographs, stories, and
any other related con book material. We can accept material in
TIFF, EPS and PDF formats. If you have a JPEG file, please try to send
it to us at the highest resolution possible. Artwork can be either
8.5"x11", 8.5"x5.5", or 4.25"x5.5" in size. Black & white images should be
submitted in at least 300DPI or higher. PDF files should be created at the
'High Quality' setting. Stories may be in either Rich Text (RTF) or DOC
format. If you are submitting a story, please include your name in the
story file so we are able to properly credit you.
Quality setting.

Also, please name files that you provide to us something logical, so
that we know who they were submitted by. For example, a piece done by
Joe Public could be named jpublic-temple_of_sobek.tiff.

We do have an upload site for images that are too large to send to us
by email. By 'too large', we mean larger than 5MB in size. Please send
submissions and questions to conbook@furtherconfusion.org. This is
also where to ask about details for the upload site.

Our Convention Book guidelines are posted in full detail on our
website, as well as templates that you can use for Illustrator and
Photoshop. This page is located at
http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/conbook_guidelines.php

4. Travel Assistance

For those of you who wish to be listed on our Travel Assistance page,
please send an email to info@furtherconfusion.org by November 12th. For
more information about our travel assistance program, please see
http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/travel_assistance.php

If you would like to donate money to the travel assistance funds,
information on how to do this is also on the travel assistance page.

Those who will receive donations for travel assistance will be contacted
on December 7th.

5. Furry Market Place spaces deadline

The deadline to reserve a space in the Furry Market Place is coming up
fast, and spaces are going quickly. The hard and fast deadline for getting
a space in our Furry Market Place area (outside the Dealers' Room proper)
is December 1st or when we run out of spaces - whichever is sooner. Our
Furry Market Place is available for those of you who wish to sell art and
merchandise that is PG rated and can be easily packed up at the end of the
day (since the tables will are in the hallway and will not be secured in
the evening). Each of the spaces is a 4ft length of a table, and costs
$40.

6. Masquerade

The Masquerade is now open for entries. Our Masquerade is a judged
event with three categories: Novice, Journeyman and Master.

- Novice class is for new people and requires that you have never
been in a judged event before.
- Journeyman is for those who have one at least one award in a judged
event before.
- The Master category is for those that have won Best of Show, Best
of Class, or other such titles in events before.

Entrants may compete in categories above that which they must be in,
but may not compete in categories lower. For example, someone who is
presenting for the first time anywhere could compete in Journeyman if
they so wished, but anyone who has won at Master level could not
compete in Journeyman or Novice.

Masquerade entries are to be less than two minutes in length. We are
always excited to see new creations, and from new people. If you've
7. Furry Variety Show - 'Furry Night Live!'

This year the Furry Variety Show (FVS) - with the emphasis on Variety,
performance and, of course, whacky fun - will be subtitled "Furry
Night Live!" Furs will be asked to organized into 'troupes' (like on
Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, or Second City TV), plan, write their
skits and rehearse them in advance. Because of this, acts performed by
these troupes will be allowed to go over the former skit limits if,
and only if, they are approved in advance. Individual performances
will be limited to 3 minutes. As usual, the FVS is a non-competitive
and non-judged show for the entertainment of Further Confusion's
members.

So, if you want to do magic, a comedy routine, dance to 'Walk Like an
Egyptian, play your kazoo, juggle flaming bowling pins (providing
they're not lit, of course), or perform that silly act that you've
wanted to do for months - in or out of costume, with or without a
puppet, alone or in a stage breaking group - then the FVS is for you!

For more information contact FVS Lead Scruff E. Coyote at
fvs@furtherconfusion.org.

8. Events Announcements

We never stop looking for more event ideas. For those of you who would
like to run a panel, or have an idea for a panel, please contact our
events staff at events@furtherconfusion.org.

There is still time for people to have their fursuit participate in the
'Extreme Fursuit Makeover' panel. This is a special event we are holding
at Further Confusion for those of you who wish to have their fursuit made
over by a panel of experts. If you would like your fursuit to be
considered, please send an email to Toraneko at toranekom@yahoo.com. Be
aware that there are some rules you should be aware of before entering.
These can be found at
http://www.furtherconfusion.org/fc2005/fursuitmakeover.php

The Making of 'Kaze: Ghost Warrior': How one man and his computer
created an animated film. Timothy 'Amadhi' Albee will explain how he
made his 3D animated film in the wilds of Alaska. You can learn more
about this exciting film at: http://www.kazeghostwarrior.com/

Mr. Albee also adds, "We've all got stories burning inside us, stories
we, ourselves, wish we'd been told. Technology has reached a point
where even a single, dedicated individual can create a film that can
stand on its own next to the best 'big-budget' Hollywood productions.
All you need to do is figure out how to get to 'there' from 'here',
doing what you need to do, learning what you need to learn, each and
every day."

Amadhi shows you the behind-the-scenes processes that worked for him on
his own journey of belief and love that resulted in the short film, "Kaze,
Ghost Warrior." See brand-new 3D animation tools in action that can let
even first-time animators deliver powerful performances. Find out how you
can learn the skills to tell the stories you've always wished to see!

"It's not rocket-science, and when it comes down to it, the opportunity
that animation gives you, to actually live in that world, live as those
characters, for as long as you're working on that project, that's the
best 'high' I've ever found. The stories and characters within the
Furry community are the most beautiful, powerful and moving I've ever
seen, anywhere. I want us to prove ourselves right and make these
Dreams come alive, for ourselves and for all who have ever dared to
Dream Aloud!!" says Amadhi.

Bring all your questions about storytelling, film-making, 3D animation,
and Kaze and the crew with you. An open-ended Q&A session will take
place immediately after the panel.

Live Animal Events: 'Wildlife Companions' is a nonprofit organization
that operates a sanctuary and endangered species education outreach
program. Their website is http://www.wildlifecompanions.org/ and they
will have both human and animal representatives at Further Confusion 2005.

8. Pre-registration deadline is coming up

If you have not registered for Further Confusion yet, the
pre-registration deadline for both mail-in and online registrations is
December 30. After this date, registration will be closed and the at-door
price will be $50. Single-day memberships will be available at the door,
and prices will be announced on our website when these prices are
finalized.

9. FCTV

Conventions that wish to submit commercials to FCTV still have time.
Commercials can be 30 seconds long and are to be PG-rated. FCTV is also
looking for content to show during the con. Animations, con footage,
self-made video projects or anything else of that nature is acceptable.
Send an email to fctv@furtherconfusion.org for more information.
Deadline for FCTV submissions is Dec 17th.

Stalking Cat on Dr. Phil

Dunno if anyone else saw it, but apparantly tommorow night (that would be friday), Dr. Phil is doing an episode on obsessions, and it seems Stalking Cat is a guest. Dr. Phil explores the world of furries...I'm cringing already. Anway, since I'm going to be watching, I thought I'd let the rest of you know. It's 10/22 on KRON 4 at 8pm.

Tail Technical Question(s)

Hi Furries!

I love you folks! You're the best. Really.

I am here because I wanted to go to the source to ask a technical question regarding a costume I am making.

Does anyone have any resources, ideas, patterns for tail making. I am thinking of making a nice foxtail for a costume, something bushy and big. Having had some costume experience, i realize now that there are going to be engineering issues, how does the tail stay straight? how does it stay in place? Upright? Weight? Materials? etc. paper mache?

Also, i am planning on making a head piece/mask and any pointers on comfort, air circulation and again engineering would be appreciated.

i don't have the final design yet at all, still looking at ideas preferrably illustrations from 30s-40s childrens books.

I appreciate any advice and promise to post the results if y'all are interested.

cheers

You wanna make me some kinda furry hat with tiger ears for my suit?
Or wanna help show me how to make them?
I'm happy to pay you for your time. After all, what's the point of a tiger suit without the ears right?
